“AI drama” means two different things in searches: dramas about artificial intelligence, and dramas made with it. This page is about the second. Viewers have been noticing AI-made short dramas since early 2026, as we found in are short dramas AI-generated. Here we look at the other side: which apps say they make them.

We read the App Store listings of the twelve short drama apps we track, and of every app with “AI” in its name that the store returns for AI drama searches, on 15 October 2026.

Which of the big apps say they use AI

Of the twelve apps we track, two say in their own store listings that AI goes into their content:

App What its listing says
FlickReels Its store name is “FlickReels - AI Story & Drama”, and it describes “AI-powered innovative content” with an AI-made visual style
StardustTV “Original Dramas Powered by AI”, made with “AI-assisted production”

ShortMax mentions AI too, but only for recommendations, not for making shows. The other nine, including ReelShort, DramaBox, GoodShort and NetShort, say nothing about AI in their listings.

Saying nothing is not the same as not using it. Reviewers have complained most about AI content on DramaBox, which does not mention AI at all. A listing tells you what an app chooses to advertise.

The apps built around AI

A separate set of apps puts AI in the name. These are the ones the US App Store returned:

App Available since US ratings What it says
FlickReels - AI Story & Drama July 2024 107,821 AI-powered stories alongside regular dramas
VibeShort: AI Short Dramas February 2026 50,145 “AI-generated tales”
My Muse: AI Series, Drama Live November 2024 31,365 AI series in its name
PopShort.AI January 2024 147 “AI-powered vertical dramas”
FlareTV - AI Short Dramas July 2026 0 Scripts, visuals and narration all made with AI

VibeShort is the one to watch. It reached the store on 25 February 2026 and collected more than 50,000 US ratings in under eight months, about as fast as TikTok’s own PineDrama. Both VibeShort and My Muse are rated 17+.

Even GoodShort’s seller now lists an app called Shortoo - AI Dramas & Comics, released in 2026 with only two ratings so far.

Almost nobody labels it on YouTube

The apps’ official YouTube channels rarely mention AI. Across 20,332 uploads on ten channels, we found four that describe themselves as AI-made, all on MoboReels between August 2025 and January 2026, tagged as “Western AI” dramas.

The other titles that contain “AI” are stories about an AI character, such as a husband who replaces his wife with one, or words in other languages. ReelShort’s website, which tags its series in detail, showed 123 different tags on its front page and none for AI.

New channels with no connection to any app are another matter. One of the channels using the name “Pine Drama”, opened in September 2026, describes itself as a home for AI short dramas.

What this means for viewers

  1. If you want to avoid AI-made dramas, the store listing is the only official signal, and most apps give none. FlickReels and StardustTV say they use it; the AI-named apps are built on it.
  2. If you are curious about them, FlickReels, StardustTV and VibeShort are the largest apps that say so openly.
  3. Do not expect labels on YouTube. Four uploads in more than 20,000 is effectively none.

What this does and does not show

It shows what the apps say about AI in their own listings, and how rarely their channels mention it.

It does not show how much AI any app actually uses. An app that says nothing may still use AI, and one that mentions it may use it for only part of its catalogue. Ratings counts are not user counts. Nothing on this page describes what anything costs.

What we measured

The US App Store listings of twelve short drama apps and of every app with “AI” in its name returned by searches for AI dramas, read together through Apple’s public lookup service on 15 October 2026: name, seller, release date, rating count and description. Every public upload title on ten verified official YouTube channels, 20,332 videos, read between 7 and 15 October 2026. ReelShort’s front-page series tags, read on 15 October 2026.
